Born and raised in the inner city of New York, Ashley Scott is a role model to many and embodies her commitment to the community and championing diversity in data careers. She is a first-generation college graduate who completed a 5-year degree-granting her a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, concentration in Rhetoric & Communication and a Master in Business Administration, concentration in Managerial Analytics, both with honors, and currently works at a Fortune 500 Company.
Ashley’s passion is to empower unrepresented data enthusiasts to pursue in-demand careers in the data, technology, and business sector. Despite increased job openings and growth areas in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field, research suggests a shortage of people of color, especially women. In pursuit of her mission to promote data literacy, Ashley started the social media campaign #DataGirl in the summer of 2020 to increase the awareness of data careers and created data-inspired apparel and accessories. Since then, she has served as a keynote speaker at events including Women In Data, FEM STEM Bahamas, IBM, and Google, reaching audiences across the United States, Canada, and China to share her expertise and experience with data and technology. She also serves as a Women in Data Science Ambassador in a partnership with Stanford University and is a NASA Solar System Ambassador.
